Cupcake Rebuild (again!):
I have had this car since the
early '90s and it is time again for it to be dusted off and
fired up...
This time, it is being
converted back to twin turbo (still with the flat fan) but
with water-to-air intercoolers and new intake plenums on top
of the throttle bodies, my custom rods and all the usual
tricks inside the motor. We aren't trying to maximise
power under the curve on this one, but it will be more of a
fun 8500rpm flame throwing grenade motor with too much
power!
I have lost a gear in the
gearbox (back to five) but the supershift / paddle shift is
retained but now coupled to the new drive-by-wire
throttle...
Adding the bigger brakes with
six piston front calipers was a bit silly considering it has
added so much to the unsprung weight. The total weight
is now 870kg so I guess I need to add more boost...
This car is more of a sledgehammer approach than an example
of efficient engineering but it all about having a bit of
fun...
I am aiming to have the
engine on the dyno in the next month if I can find some
spare time, the rest is ready to go. I was having a
serious think about putting a K3 body on it but I think I
will now wait until it hits a wall...
The above photos are all
out of date. I haven't taken a photo of it in recent
years so I will have to make a bit more of an effort!
