Rebel 2300 overview

The plane is rated at +/-10g at acro weight and is designed for unlimited class competition aerobatics.  Being a two seater (in tandem) it should also should make a great cross country / sport airplane although the view for the pilot won't be too good with the mid wing...  To be honest, the mid wing also means that the passenger space is a bit limited to the point that the passenger needs to be under 5ft8 or an amputee...

The design is basically a heavily modified Laser 2300 which is a similar concept to the Extra300S, Edge 540T etc (they have all basically evolved from the same design) with the full length light carbon shell instead of the fabric and aluminium.  We have incorporated an airfoil tail for greater efficiency and speed.

Wayne Handley's Raven

There are lots of options to customise the plane including a few different manufactures for the wings.  We are building up a 380hp modified AEIO540 Lycoming engine that we will be developing on our engine dyno, a carbon airfoil tail and Carbon / Kevlar fuselage skins...   With a good wing and it's low weight it should be a good toy!

Development

We are currently in the middle of tooling up and may be able to supply the following parts to make the Laser Z2300 airframe more efficient and increase performance.  These parts include:
  • Carbon / Kevlar composite fuselage skins (similar to the Raven),
  • Canopy frames,
  • Carbon or Kevlar cowls,
  • Carbon wheel pants,
  • Instrument panels,
  • Carbon seats,
  • Composite fuel tanks,
  • Composite smoke tanks,
  • Waterjet and laser cut brackets and mounts, and most importantly,
  • Carbon airfoil rudder, horizontal stabiliser, elevator and Kevlar vertical stabiliser.    Note: The airfoil tail will involve some modification to the airframe during building)
Parts will be available only after flight testing is completed.
